An interesting thread for examination, but well beyond my means and
ability. There is so much that is "hidden" in Saudi Arabia. All of the
world players are jockeying, playing whatever leverage they have, to
finish in the finals in the globalization game bringing us the New World
Order.
Gold will definitely play a part and I am working on a story about that
now.
Many facets: oil, drugs, gold. All of which are forms of money and
wealth.

This is just a suggestion, Mike.
One has to question why a place like Saudi Arabia seems to be the focus
of
so much intrigue, protected status and concern for the state department.
Again I would question why they have purchased so much gold in the past.
Is it to support their own banking system, where foreign officials can
hide
their billions siphoned out of their own countries? A lucre so filthy
that the
Swiss would not touch it with a ten-foot pole?
Sure, we are talking a lot about protecting a hapless pipeline in
Afghanistan.
So what? What answer does it give us to persistently go on about why
Tajik
oil is so important when more oil is produced for the U.S. domestically
than
anywhere else?? It makes more sense to say that the Saudis are perhaps
involved in more than just oil, that they are the brokers for laundering
huge
sums of money, because they have the gold to back up any transaction.
Are large quantities of contraband bought and sold with U.S. currency?
And if
so, how does a bank in New York buy contraband out of Afghanistan?
Would
you not need a bank in the Middle East which would happily transfer any
sum
for you? And if you destroyed that bank in New York, would you not be
obliged, then to depend more heavily on that bank in the Middle East?
Maybe the sum contained in that bank in the middle east is so darned
important, that even if some terrorists managed to knock out your own
bank,
your hands are tied and you can't go after them, because this means
exposing how and where you got your money.
