When the VP picked up the phone the raspy-voiced caller recited, "We know what you did last summer..." This week we learn that a controversial Halliburton subsidiary was granted a plumb defense contract. And, this weekend the administration sent Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill out to reassure Americans that, despite what their depleted 401(k) statements say, everything is fine. "The fundamentals are strong," he said. But, the peasants are revolting, Mr. O'Neill.
