Dear Colleagues,
In our mission of reporting to you the news from Latin Am�rica on the drug
war and democracy, we have time and time again reported on victories by the
people of Am�rica against policies imposed by Washington and Wall Street.
This summer, in the farming community of San Salvador Atenco outside of
Mexico City, the people defeated a $2.8 billion dollar International Airport
project imposed upon them by the Fox government and the business interests
behind it. In very short time, their machetes raised high in the air, the
people of Atenco defeated that mega-project, now oficially cancelled by the
Mexican government.
While the commercial media tried to explain this historic continental event,
Narco News asked authentic journalist Maria Botey Pascual to go to Atenco
and report the real story - in the words of the participants - as to how
peasant farmers and working people beat back the billionaire neoliberal
