If many astute observers have wondered why a senior Intelligence Chief like Tenet (DCI) is being sent to mediate between Arafat and Sharon, the answer is simple. Only Tenet knows the full truth of the strange Pollard Case and only he can block any Israeli efforts to use a release of the facts to the world press. The facts are stunning, to say the least. They are based on an agreement reached between Israeli intelligence and its U.S. allies back during the Nixon administration which involved sharing vital data from NSA Satellite intelligence with the Israelis. The process, which ran in utmost secrecy was going fine until Cuban intelligence specialists, in Iraq to train Saddam's analysts, shared their suspicions with the Iraqis that Israel was getting NSA 'spy in the sky' data from the U.S. -- after Israeli jets' successfully attacked Osiriak, Saddam's nuclear reactor. In order to allay Arab suspicions, 'Operation Mega' was devised and Pollard was cast in the role of the spy who had to get caught and go to jail. The U.S. three-letter agencies were off the hook. The Israelis could appear chastened and the Arabs continued to hoodwinked.
