As a student of history most of my reading involves the founding of America, the Revolutionary War, the Civil War (a.k.a. War of Northern Aggression) and Reconstruction. Anyone with more then two brain cells should be concerned with the swerve that our political culture has taken beginning with the reign of “the original gorilla”, the deity of the Left, Abraham Lincoln and his Republican firebrand cronies. What does Abraham Lincoln have to do with the shenanigans that are going on in America in 2002? The Republic that was created in 1787 ceased to exist in its’ original form during his administration. Old dishonest Abe is largely responsible for the overweening and intrusive nature of the government that we now live under. He instituted the income tax, ignored the Constitution and the ‘intent’ of the Founders, his dictatorial abuse of habeas corpus, the jailing of political adversaries and outspoken critics, (except for a few highly visible critics like Horace Greeley). He shut down numerous newspapers and held beliefs that opposed states’ rights, self determination and individual freedom for ALL THE PEOPLE. He generally held an unspoken philosophy that ‘might makes right.’ Of course self determination and individual freedom was an issue with him when it was convenient and could be used as political fodder. During the Mexican War he was all about self determination regarding Texas. During the ‘War for Southern Independence’ it was just hunky dory for West Virginia to secede fr om Virginia. Today we have the Department of Homeland Security harassing our citizens at airports. At JFK airport a nursing mother was forced to drink her own breast milk! She placed her milk in bottles for her suckling babe to nourish. After being stopped from boarding her flight she was forced to drink it in order to prove to the ‘powers that be’ that the bottles didn’t contain Greek Fire. We allow illegals into the country and overstay there visas’ and in return they fly passenger jets into buildings. The Dept. of Homeland Security has now usurped the role of airport security. It is a given that they will hire people for these positions based upon the tenets of the diversified multi-cultural umbrella. Tax paying and law abiding American will experience further harassment at the hands of these federal ‘employees’. Welcome to animal farm circa 2002. What do you think of diplomats and staff from Indonesia who laughed and snickered at a New York television reporter (and at us) when they learned that Colin Powell twisted the arm of Mayor Bloomberg to postpone the execution of very delinquent parking violations? Indonesia is only one of many countries that are guilty of this transgression. Bloomberg wanted to hold their Third World feet to the fire and make them pay up. Those privileged and ‘above the law’ representatives of foreign countries owe New York City $22,000,000. I wonder if that amount includes interest and late fees’? These scofflaw violations are like the ones…….well you know like the ones that American citizens have to pay or else have bench warrants issued for their arrest. How do you feel about communities, maybe even yours, which are being inundated with people that come from alien cultures who have very little interest in melting into ours? It isn’t just happening here in the United States. The London Times recently printed an article entitled, “Britain is losing Britain’. It reported that immigration is transforming Britain into “a foreign land.” It goes on to say the “while the white population grew by 1 percent, the Bangladesh community grew by 30 percent, the black African population by 37 percent and the Pakistani community by 13 percent…Whole villages in Bangladesh have been transplanted to northern English towns.” In the former pastoral farmland and newly Walmarted stripped malled community that I reside, there have been flagrant abuses by these new ‘citizens’. The business ‘flavor of the week’ are nail salons. These businesses are allowed to set up shop without the usual encumbrances which other storeowners have to abide by. They are allowed to hire underage, unlicensed employees from their homeland. American citizens have to go cosmetology school, be apprentices and earn licenses before they are allowed to touch a person’s hair, skin and nails. They ignore health codes with impunity and are exempt from paying taxes for seven years. After the seven years is expired they conveniently transfer ownership to a relative and the seven years tax exempt time clock starts all over again. Try that ye rebels on April 15th and see what happens to you. And finally there is the abomination that happened to a New Hampshire woman when she was stopped by police because her car had a broken tail light. The police discovered that there was an outstanding warrant for her arrest because she allegedly failed to return a Woody Allan video to the rental store. She was handcuffed, arrested and had her car impounded. A law that was created to protect car rental companies when rented cars weren’t returned was sighted as grounds and the excuse to use this law in a way other than what it was created for. Wouldn’t we all love to see similar things happen to the crooks and criminals in Washington D.C. They should have to feel the sting like the rest of us and not be exempt from being held accountable for there actions. It’s all about power! Whenever the government takes or acquires power it means that the people have less. Liberty and freedom take a back seat. Thank you Mr. Lincoln for showing the bureaucrats what they can get away with.
