But if that was indeed the case, then ANY country has the right to protect itself. As for telling the the relatives and survivors, they all knew the risks of being in the military on a spy ship. And the other question is what made it OK for the individuals on the Liberty to spy on an ally and pass the information to Israel's enemies WHILE THEY WERE FIGHTING A WAR? Is that ok Shannon? Who is screwing who here? I don't see them or you or ANYBODY else for that matter make a big deal out of an identical situation where our ally Sadam shot up a US spyship in the Gulf while it was spying on him and Iran during the Iran/Iraq war. Sadam said it was an accident, and we dropped the issue. This is what we do when we get caught. The point here is that the US spies on its friends and allies when it wants to.
