For many months now, certain Frenchmen have been growing very
rich by publishing books based on a giant conspiracy which claims that the
Pentagon was not hit by American Airlines Flight 77 on September 11th 2001.
Instead, the French allege the building was hit either by a much smaller
aircraft, or perhaps by a bomb planted inside the Pentagon by its own ”evil”
occupants, the United States Military. As I wrote at that
time:
"Though I am not
surprised by such extraordinary suggestions from a bunch of wine swilling
Parisians at the time, I am certainly surprised by the immediate and rampant
American response. Within days, hundreds of US bulletin boards and web sites
were awash with similar claims. It was an incredibly successful “divide and
rule” exercise that pitted American against American, and civilian against
soldier. Needless to say, the French were
delighted.
"The
apparent problem was quite simple. American Airlines Flight 77 was a Boeing
757 twin-jet with a wingspan of 124 feet, but the hole in the Pentagon was
less than 124 feet across. Conspiracy heaven! Obviously then, according to
those determined to undermine American national security, the attack aircraft
was a remotely-controlled F-16 fighter or Martell missile, 'almost
certainly' guided to its American military target by a crazed four-star
American general buried deep inside Cheyenne Mountain at NORAD
headquarters."
The main problem was that the US Administration had confiscated the CCTV
cameras from a local Washington hotel and service station, leaving only
eyewitnesses to report on actual events as they unfolded, and we all know how
eyewitness testimony alone can be gradually undermined and destroyed, if such
destruction serves a particular geopolitical agenda. But were the CCTV cameras
the only source of
pictures?
Logic dictated that there would be other pictures of the attack aircraft
somewhere else, because the Pentagon was attacked a considerable time after
the first strike on the World Trade Center, resulting in just about every
media network camera in America nervously scanning the skies for other likely
"missiles" by the time American Flight 77 arrived overhead Washington,
DC.
This
was indeed the case, but actually finding the photographs proved to be a giant
task. As all readers are aware, live television footage on the day was shown
in a completely random fashion by a number of different networks, most of whom
intermittently used footage drawn from third-party sources. None of this
footage carried a date or time clock on the screen, with most being cobbled
together on the run. By late on September 12th I had about eight hours of
mixed "live" VHS tape from three different Australian networks, which I threw
into a cupboard for safe keeping on the off-chance it might be needed
later.
Last week I reluctantly dragged the tapes out of the cupboard for review,
because over the last year a number of puzzling events have surfaced, and I
was looking for clues. I was particularly interested in the sudden "implosion"
of Building 7, World Trade Center, late on September 11th, which will
hopefully be covered in a later report. But then my eye was suddenly attracted
by a few "frames-within-frames" of American Airlines Flight 77 diving towards
the Pentagon, and I grabbed two of them for this
report.
As
you can see from the pictures at the top of this page, they were shown as
inset frames by BBC World News, while former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak
was being interviewed about the attacks. Because there are no timing clocks
on-screen I cannot give you an exact time of transmission, though the
voice-over indicates that Barak was interviewed "three hours" after the first
strike on the WTC. This indicates that the BBC footage was broadcast at
roughly 11 a.m. American Eastern Time, with the inset frames simultaneously
giving viewers a dramatic record of events as they have recently
unfolded.
This approximate timing is confirmed by the legends under each BBC inset
screen, which read respectively, "BREAKING NEWS - Four hijacked planes
crash. Two in New York, one into the Pentagon and one in Pennsylvania". And,
"Reports say another hijacked plane is heading towards Washington." The poor
quality of the frames is due to my rickety old VCR which lacks a sophisticated
"freeze" facility, coupled to my antique computer video board, which can only
grab frames measuring about two by one and one-half
inches.
Before anyone bothers to ask, these frames of Flight 77 are not repeated
anywhere else in my eight hours of footage, so it seems likely that regardless
of which source provided its inset frames, the BBC either did not realize what
it had in its possession, or though it unimportant, or the video clip simply
got lost in the flurry of frantic activity that day. Any suggestions that this
footage might be United Flight 175 flying into the World Trade Center can be
confidently
discounted.
Quite apart from the belly of the aircraft lacking the grey color of
United 175 shown at the foot of this page, the BBC footage was shot in
Washington, and the dramatic footage of Flight 175 flying into the WTC did not
become available until the morning of September 12, one day after this BBC
footage went to air. In addition and by a process of elimination, we have no
approach footage of Flight 11 or Flight 93, so what remains is Flight
77.
Sacre bleu! Could the aircraft be an F-16 fighter, perhaps? Non monsieur.
Well, what about a remotely piloted Air Launched Cruise Missile? Non monsieur.
Well, er, there was a white executive jet with two engines in the tail
reported over the White House by CNN, and you know how fantastically reliable
they are? Non monsieur, this plane has no jets in the tail. Well then, it must
be a helicopter taking American special forces to the Pentagon to blow up
their own colleagues? Non monsieur, it 'as ['ow you say?] no rotor
blades.
This trip down memory lane became more useful than I anticipated, because
in order to grab the right frames with my amateur gear I had to play this
section of the tape forwards and rewind it several times. While doing so I
gradually became aware of the extraordinary things Barak was actually saying
live, only three hours after the first strike on the WTC. Put bluntly Barak
was outlining a game plan for the American President. A game plan that George
Dubya has demonstrably adhered to ever since. Barak included the
following
“observations”:
“If it is a kind of Bin Laden organization, and even if it’s something
else, I believe this is the time to deploy globally a concerted effort led by
the United States, UK, Europe and Russia against all sources of terror, the
same kind of struggle that our forefathers launched against piracy on the high
seas…”
“What is also needed is [going] after rogue states should also be
deployed, not only on a national level or tri regional level as cover exactly
to counter threats from rogue states like Iran, Iraq and Libya” … “we
have no way but to stand firm facing terror, otherwise all our way of life
will be threatened. To stand firm means to isolate from the world every nation
that is hosting them [terrorists] and calling every terror cell with accurate
names. And be ready with all the pain that comes with it, to act upon our
observations…”
“There are no more than five or six countries in the world which are
directly or indirectly hosting terror. There are now no more than ten or
fifteen terrorist sites in the world. All the organizations are well
known…”It’s time to launch an operational concrete war against
terror”.
You all know what happened after that. George Dubya obeyed his Jewish
orders exactly, standing in the White House Rose Garden trotting out terms
like “Crusade” and “Axis of Evil”, before starting the “War on Terror” ball
rolling down the hill by bombing Afghan weddings, though not the incredibly
lucrative Afghan/CIA Opium poppy fields. Barak also suggested “pre-emptive”
strikes during his interview with the BBC, which brings us nicely up to date
with Dubya’s “War on Saddam”, intended solely to transfer Iraqi oil reserves
to Wall Street ownership.
