-Caveat Lector-

The plane crash killing Senator Paul Wellstone may or may not have been an
accident. No one not involved, and perhaps not even those who were, will
ever know, and those who say they can know for certain are deluding
themselves.

However, if there were some who thought they would benefit from Wellstone's
death, they are quite stupid to have thought so.

As it stands now, the Republican candidate, Norm Coleman, a former Democrat,
has no chance to win - and he knows it. Here in Minnesota we take quickly to
the underdog and the down-and-out.

For those backing Coleman, and certainly the Bush organization made large
contributions, all those millions of dollars invested in Coleman's campaign
have been completely wasted. They might as well have flushed the money down
the toilet. His campaign is totally paralyzed, and this in the final 10 days
of a hotly contested campaign.

If this is the work of a conspiracy, they are very stupid conspirators.

The Bush White House badly needed to defeat Wellstone and take his seat; if
this is the best they can do they are in big trouble.

No Republican can win a Minnesota Senate race against Walter Mondale. He
will get my vote (I was not going to vote for Wellstone on principle),
primarily for one reason. My other Senator, Mark Dayton, is No. 100 in
seniority out of 100 senators. Mondale is my state's only chance to retain
some influence in that body.

As for those who have never set foot in Minnesota or taken the time to know
or understand us, and claim to know this state politically and morally,
shame on them. They are ignorant and do not appear to have the ability or
desire to become less so.

So the world can speculate to its heart's content, while the those of us on
the ground shake our heads in wonder at such arrogance.
