Oct 26, 2002 Dentist Agrees To Spill Details Of Bomb Plot By GEORGE WILKENS [EMAIL PROTECTED] TEMPLE TERRACE - Temple Terrace dentist Michael W. Hardee has agreed to ``full and complete disclosure'' of his role in a plot to bomb mosques in the Tampa Bay area. The plea agreement was signed Oct. 18, the same day Hardee, 49, pleaded guilty to conspiring with podiatrist Robert J. Goldstein to target Arab and Muslim buildings for destruction. The agreement promises consideration of Hardee's cooperation at sentencing. Hardee remains jailed without bail. Goldstein, 37, was arrested Aug. 23 after authorities discovered a cache of bombs, guns and munitions throughout his Seminole town house. A search also turned up a typed list of about 50 Islamic worship and education centers in the Tampa Bay area and elsewhere in Florida, according to court records. Prosecutors allege Goldstein recruited Hardee to drive him to an Islamic education center near Goldstein's house, where Goldstein would leave a bomb. On Thursday, authorities arrested Goldstein's wife, Kristi, 28, for possession of destructive devices. Hardee's Temple Terrace office, 11408 N. 56 St., appears to have been vacant for some time. Friday, one window was boarded and signs and all indications of his former dental practice removed. No one answered the door Friday afternoon at Hardee's Temple Terrace home, 5216 E. 131 Ave. A sign advertises the $150,000 house for sale. ``All I can say is I'm shocked,'' next-door neighbor Nell Richards said. ``He was a very conscientious man. He would go off to work every day at 8 a.m. and come home about 4:30 p.m.,'' Richards said. ``He would often come home for lunch. He was a very nice neighbor who stayed home most of the time'' and lived alone, she said. ``I didn't know him that well, but he was always very friendly.'' Hardee's Tampa attorney, M.D. Purcell Jr., could not be reached Friday. In a related matter, a Dunedin gun dealer who authorities say was originally listed in Goldstein's attack plan was freed on bail late Thursday. Samuel Valiant Shannahan III posted a $20,000 cash bail after 28 days in jail. He must live at his father's Citrus County home, subject to electronic monitoring, his attorney, Bruce Howie, said. Shannahan faces five counts of federal firearms transfer violations and one count of making a false statement to federal agents. The indictment does not accuse Shannahan of being a part of the mosque attack conspiracy. ``If they thought my client was involved in the conspiracy, he'd still be in custody,'' Howie said. The release order came independently of Thursday's arrest of Goldstein's wife and the disclosure of Hardee's plea deal, Howie said. Reporter Michael Fechter contributed to this report.
