-Caveat Lector-
Well it's funny you should ask that question as moments prior I was flicking through "Moorish Style" by Miles Danby.

To be sure, it's simply magnifico! Art and architecture of beauty to thrill and inspire!

What did the so-called Christian West dominated by the papacy have to offer?

Bloody Crusades, the Inquisition and infernal bleeding Madonna's and morbid effigy's of perennially dying deity, Cathedral ceilings dominated by guilt, death and destruction? They stole knowledge, wisdom and craft from Orientalism and like wild boars rampaged through its vineyard of treasures.

In present day US, given the diverse squabbles amongst alleged Evangelicals and Christian Zionists, it would be difficult to envisage a single entity that could be construed as your hoped for Citadel of Light. Robert Schuller's dream is his holy house of glass - not sure what he's growing in there?

Perhaps, the Muslims might have a better shot at it, although the modern variety is as barren intellectually and spiritually as their lets-make-America-a-Xtian-theocracy counterparts.

None-the-less, the American pioneers had a much clearer vision than their wannabe spiritual progeny who allege to be heirs of the American kingdom. Each and every cultus has it's own particular "We are Children of Abraham (Washington)" mantra.

But then, the pioneers were a mixed bag of Deists, Protestant Christians, and Pagans predominantly looking to escape the persecution of the papal dominated Old World. In part they aspired to not repeat the persecutory mistakes of history in their vision of New Atlantis. They were determined that never again would the State be incarnated with a Messianic nature.

Much kudos therefore must go to the enlightened pagans and Masons who helped shape the New World. As the world has become less and less isolated, the New Atlantean's have progressively been overrun by the common rabble whom they must assuage with soft-pillows for their conscience and body.

Methinks the only way left now is up!

Perhaps a Martian Atlantis will be the go for future Atlantean's?

But I am probably way behind the times and I'm sure some Alternative-warped Conspiramaniac will inform us that we've already erected the Martian Mecca. Love to know what Martian beer tastes like!

Well, with so many competitive factions, I thank god daily that I am a post-millennial atheist.

Dave.

www.ctrl.org DECLARATION & DISCLAIMER ========== CTRL is a discussion & informational exchange list. Proselytizing propagandic screeds are unwelcomed. Substancenot soap-boxingplease! These are sordid matters and 'conspiracy theory'with its many half-truths, mis- directions and outright fraudsis used politically by different groups with major and minor effects spread throughout the spectrum of time and thought. That being said, CTRLgives no endorsement to the validity of posts, and always suggests to readers; be wary of what you read. CTRL gives no credence to Holocaust denial and nazi's need not apply.
