Currently, the US military has jurisdiction over American soldiers accused
of crimes while on duty, although it can allow South Korea to try them on a
case-by-case basis. -- AP
Back in the seventies a marine on Okinawa raped two Okinawan girls. One was about thirteen and the other about eleven. As I remember they were sisters. I never heard anything about how that came out, but if it was handled in the usual way, the marine was sent back to the states. Anybody remember hearing anything about it. I don't recall anyone getting very excited about it at the time. I think it was either 1975 or 1976. The military is usually pretty forgiving of the military--well unless fraternization is involved. They can get pretty excited about dating between officers and enlisted personnel. Other than than they can get away with murder.
