Can you try "ClickToFocus"? It will also change the TitleFocus option
and it *may* change how the WM_TAKE_FOCUS is handled (but the code looks
like it ought to handle all cases, even if it is a bit convoluted).
It may not make a difference at all, but if so, then at least we know.

I tried the last one for a bit and probably my Java version doesn't look
at that. At least I saw no difference. ctwm is (if I understand
correctly what they mean[1]) a reparenting window manager.

[1] ctwm creates a window for the frame (in which it draws the title bar
and border) and places the client's window inside it. That gives it a
new parent window, hence reparenting. I think this is what they mean.
