Yup, and I haven't had a VMS workstation in front of me for ages, nor
do I expect to have one in the foreseeable future either.

Not necessarely...  The C and X11 libraries on VMS have evolved quite
a bit as well, so I expect a number of those not really needed these
days.  My recommendation for any future person would be to start over.
