I wrote that the problem of text corruption on gnome and related panels, menus, etc. had been solved by the "uxa" option on my Dell Latitude E6410.
Something has also solved the previously discussed focus problem (e.g. for text input). I can't be sure what solved it because I am now using a newer version of fedora (f24, previously f22) and there have been kernel updates and updates to xorg-x11-drv-intel. (Both my desktop and laptop machines use integrated Intel graphics, though the laptop is older and had more problems.) Presumably this had nothing to do with the use of this option Option "AccelMethod" "uxa" since that was needed only on the Laptop. The desktop machine had not produced the text corruption. Anyhow, this seems to remove any concern that the focus problem might have had something to do with recent hanges to ctwm. Perhaps it was a problem in the recently upgraded xorg intel driver. Aaron
