Shutdown

Being lazy, I tend to shut the laptop computer down by pressing the
power button. Recently I have noticed long delays, and the console says
it is waiting for an xsession to finish. If I exit ctwm first, so that
xdm appears, and then press the power button the delay does not occur.
So I am wondering if there is a way to put it on a menu, to exit twm and
shut down, or at least shut X down?
