Possible.  Most straightforward way would probably be a different icon
for menus with defaults.

I meant #2.  Once they get used to opening submenus, it'll be real
surprising when they try to open the menu and wind up executing
something instead.  They'll be in for some momentary confusion when
they do that in, TwmWorkspaces, and wind up in a different workspace
instead of looking at the list of windows.  But they'll be *REAL*
surprised and experiencing a whole different emotion when, say, they
hit a menu with a default entry of f.quit...

(The obvious fact that that would be a completely insane thing to do
has never stopped anybody from doing similar things before.  But there
are plenty of non-insane default entries one might reasonably add that
would still be surprising and nontrivial to back-out from.)
