Hi,
playing around with the border problem in Firefox (see other thread)
I noticed two remarkable differences between normal borders and
3D borders in ctwm:
1) ThreeDBorders are only painted around the outer window, while
normal borders appear additionally between the title and the
content of the windows. I.e.
Border
Title bar with the icons
Border
e.g. Menu bar of the program
While for ThreeDBorders it's only
Border
Title bar with the icons
Border
e.g. Menu bar of the program
I guess that's intended and no way of getting this additional
inbetween-border with ThreeDBorders, too?
2) Normal borders belong to the window in a different way than
ThreeDBorders:
a) Taking a screenshot of a single window (e.g. with gimp or xv)
will not include the normal borders in the screenshots (except the
one between title bar and window content, of course), but will
include the ThreeDBorders.
b) I can move the window by clicking with the left mouse button
on the upper normal border. Just like with the middle mouse button,
both will turn the mouse cursor into the move cursor.
With ThreeDBorders, this doesn't work. The left mouse button click
will result in the clock cursor, only the middle mouse button
will create the move cursor.
So, normal borders and ThreeDBorders are different kind of objects.
Can someone explain that? And again, I'm afraid that cannot be changed?
cu,
Frank
