We had a discussion about it that detoured into crazy people talking about python and perl, and slighly less crazy people talking about regexps, and... I think the closest we came to a conclusion was that integrated regexps was the most likely sane solution, with a second taken by reworking the syntax for defining and assigning things to icon managers (making them separate steps). Sadly, my round tuits for the latter were lost in the mail.
