Note that it applies to versions 3.5.2 and 3.6, so we may have fixed
the problem in a different manner and the Debian folks just haven't
noticed.

Also, they just did a NMU (Non-Maintainer Update, which means the
Debian maintainer was away from his job...) on version 3.7, that's the
reason I started looking at the changes they've made.
