I think there was a message a long while ago about how you could
somehow make a program's windows end up in a workspace specified
through en environment variable or some other command line construct.
Unfortunately, I can't find that email, so I can't tell you the
details.

ANyway, I was thinking that IF someone can remind me about that
method (and if it's general enough), there's nothing stopping us from
doing something similar for geometry specifications.

   In the distant past, one could do this using the -xrm switch :

xterm -xrm 'ctwm.workspace: toto'

Unfortunately, modern (really?) clients does't even accept -xrm. If they do, it si very
easy to modify Ctwm to honor something like :

xterm -xrm 'ctwm.geometry: -0-0'
