Thank you! This did the trick, though I could've sworn I'd at least checked in Ubuntu 10.04 for similar libraries.
Also found out cmake will bomb if it's trying to compile on a shared Windows folder that doesn't support symlinking. I'm now getting a "PUMA_XFinalrecognition failed." 12 pages in, but I see from the archives I'm not the only person to have this problem, so I'll see what else worked for other people.
