Is there any recent research for a good value for CURL_MAX_WRITE_SIZE?
No. There was only very sloppy research done in the dawn of time, and then it was mostly focused on the serious problems shown on Windows back then.
The reason why I ask is that I ran into a serious performance issue using the default value of 16384. On a 2Mbit/s UMTS/HSUPA connection, less than half the bandwidth was used. Setting CURL_MAX_WRITE_SIZE to 40960 fixed the problem.
Wow. I figure this calls for some further research into this area. What was the target platform/OS version you spotted this on?
