Forgot to mention that we are using the curl_easy interface.
I am carving out the curl_easy calls from the code now, there seem to be a lot 
of them,
and will post them soon.

That looks very strange. What URL and what QUOTE options have you used to make
it do this? Or put another way: how can we repeat this sequence of commands in
our ends?
