What's the normal API then? I would guess that most users/apps use the easy API and that could be qualified as the "normal" one...

Every single function is documented, quite detailedly[1]. We provide 'tutorials' for each interface family to describe how things stick together[2]. We have a bunch of examples[3]. And all of those are included in every release archive.
