Thanks for your help. Unfortunately, I applied the patch and now I get a connection failure error immediately, even in the case where the unpatched version was able to connect. I use the latest released version 7.19.7 with c-ares 1.7.0 (patched) and openssl 0.9.8l on Windows. Thanks again.
