Right, thanks for reminding me. I did however spend some time to dig up the proper names and emails for all the CVS user names ever used and I doubt anyone else's conversion from CVS did that. Thus they will appear "git style" in the new repo.
Regarding the conversion, we already have the CVS repo available over rsync so the conversion can be done locally and then its not too slow.
