As I said, it solved the issue for me. Can you then set a break-point in there and figure out why it tries to send QUIT in the first place? The connection is considered failed so it shouldn't use the control connection for anything, only close it down...
(BTW, I pushed that fix anyway as commit d85cae922575d, because it solved the bug for me so it is at least more right than before.)
