What exactly you means with:
support so that it would work similarly to how it
currently works with FTP.....
On my point of view FTP under CURL didn't works with the -mget options

No, libcurl currently has no support for wildcards over SFTP. It should be
possible to add the support so that it would work similarly to how it
currently works with FTP, but we're missing the implementation of it.
Feel free to step forward and start working on it!
