Though I would expected to see if there is a way to isolate this from my
application not in a 5 year old version release that most likely won't be ever
updated in Linux repos.

This says it all and I'm afraid I have absolutely *zero* motivation to help you
track problems in a 5 year old release. We've done over 700 documented bug
fixes since then.
