I guess the next step, then, is to compare the connection transcripts with the 
different clients and find out what Cyberduck is doing differently than Curl, 
and report back if you find anything. If you can't get accurate connection 
transcripts, you may need to use a man-in-the-middle proxy to decode the 
connections… Obviously TLS/SSL connection debugging is not as easy as 
clear-text connection debugging.
