I just wanted to draw your attention to the fact that mr Rudd says over in bug
#1255 ("Mac code is using availability macros incorrectly") that the existing
fixes aren't "enough".
I've requested him to take the issue/patch here for discussion but nothing has
happened for ~10 days so I decided to take it here and see if you or anyone
else reading here might have some ideas or feedback on his comments.
