I must admit that

as a specification of spnego is simply genious. But what is important to
note is that this is also a compilation time check.

If what markus is proposing actually works then we might completely remove
fbopenssl from curl. Considering fbopenssl is no longer actively developed,
I would say it is a very good idea.
However till the time this can be finalized, my patch is essential.
Otherwise curl just simply crashes.
Markus:-
Can you privately provide me the full set of changes you have? I need to
test this in my setup. If this works, the entirity of fbopenssl code can
actually be removed.
Btw I use Tomcat 7.30 with spnego auth config enabled.
