Done. I stripped over 32 (!) dead or wrong servers from the list to check and
I made the check a lot stricter == it checks for ether a HTTP 200 response
code or a successful curl -I on its FTP URL.
This gave us a much shorter list but it should now be much more reliable.
If this isn't enough to assert the quality I guess I'll just ditch the mirrors
completely. Let's keep an eye on this and see how it develops.
