IMHO I disagree. Having an example that actually works for e.g. gcc would be
better than just giving a line that looks like it'll work but doesn't, and
then expecting users to start cranking out the options for their chosen
compiler/linker until it works.
Feel free to suggest your improvements as a pull request on github. We love
documentation fixes!
