I've been running a Sun Aug 9 2015 7.99.20/amd64 kernel with /home on cgd. I just rebooted with one built just now with up to date source, and fsck complains:
** /dev/rcgd0a BAD SUPER BLOCK: CAN'T FIND SUPERBLOCK /dev/rcgd0a: CANNOT FIGURE OUT SECTORS PER CYLINDER or after another try: ** /dev/rcgd0a CANNOT READ: BLK 209343840 CONTINUE? [yn] n Put the old kernel back (userland untouched throughout) and all is well, /home is mounted successfully, fsck marks rcgd0a clean and it stays that way. Thoughts? Cheers, Patrick
