I don't know if it's fixed in 1.8.4, but have you test it to make sure it
doesn't break on other ports? Last time when enable pthreads was enable,
and it broke other apps' rumtime (ruby-opengl, ruby-gtk2/ruby-gnome2 and
etc) and platforms (amd64 and sparc64). I had to disable it and use
CONFIGURE_ENV to solve it.

Interesting! I haven't tested this with ruby-gtk2 using app. I needed it
to convince ruby-tk to work...

Wow, that's insteresting for ruby-tk too. I hope, the things won't get weird on you too when it did on me.

Can you give me a tip for a simple ported ruby-gtk2 using app, so I can
test it out?

Yeah, you can test ruby-gtk2's example files. They are pretty very good to test. The similar one to gtk20's gtk-demo is:

/usr/local/share/examples/ruby18/gtk2/gtk-demo/main.rb

Cheers,
Mezz
