That isn't a syntax error. Read http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/porters-handbook/rc-scripts.html to learn why.

I'm not suggesting that you revert your change as it is basically harmless. However for future reference when you see something that you don't understand it's generally a good idea to ask first before changing it.
