At first (and cursory) glance, it seems that PERL_THREADED should be set
by the port itself if ${PERL} is built with threads, but this does not
happen. Martin, you might be able to adapt the approach in
devel/p5-SNMP-Persist.

mm, do you have a plan and a timeline for fixing this, or should these
changes be backed out? The problem is affecting users now, and the port
should not be left in its current state.
