  Will someone kindly tell me why 'cvs up -j1.139 -j1.140 GC.c' does
  completely the wrong thing, and yet
  
    cvs diff -r1.139 -r1.140 GC.c | patch ~/fptools-5.04-branch/ghc/rts/GC.c
  
  works perfectly?
