If the merging is possible without much hassle, I'd say merge it
nevertheless.  Helps, if someone wants to fork off the stable branch
(GpH people?).

As for the version number: as far as I can tell, the HEAD contains
lots of new features, so version 6 would be warranted.  Plus, I could
make a ghc6 package and retire ghc4 instead. :)
