You do not need perl, xargs, dmake to build GHC. You just need to
install MSYS as described.

If you need them for some other reason then fine, but you're on your
own.

Looks as if you maybe didn't make boot? Did you autroreconf then
./configure etc all as described in the instructions?

| Oh yeah? I have just spent an extremely frustrating few hours
| installing in turn happy, alex, dmake (I turned out not to need
| this), Perl, and xargs, with the compilation getting further and
| further each time before it crashes, only now to be grounded by
| the following, for the version ghc-6.3.20041128 (compiling with
ghc-6.0.1).

|
| I presume this is because I am using ghc-6.0.1, because I know
| that CVS GHC of the 20041128 vintage compiles on Linux.
| I've attempted to install Sigbjorn's ghc-6-2-2 MSI, but all I
| get is the extremely unhelpful message "Internal Error 2211.,
Registry".
|
| I am using Windows XP by the way.
|
| Could anyone tell me how I proceed? Thanks,
|
| George Russell
