I've now found the CVS build instructions, (in a place I didn't expect -
the standard distribution download web page), and it's rather easier than I
thought. Just one tweak required:
> $ make
> mkdir fptools
Need to remove this line - cvs checkout only works if the directory does
/not/ already exist.
Otherwise, Hugs builds just fine on MacOS X 10.3.7.
