Well, that's the HEAD for you!  Seriously, we do try to avoid breaking
things, and mostly succeed.  But when you are working on something you
probably want to avoid doing frequent pulls, else you'll risk getting
snarled up in temporary breaks.

In any case, you don't need stage2 for what you're doing, and you'll
save time by not building it.
