In the mean time, I think it would be better to revert to the
haddock-0.8 index (the new slow search was added in 0.9 iirc). A web
browser can search within the index page really quickly. Presumably it
would not be very hard to change to the old code?
Isaac - maybe you'd like to have a look at
http://trac.haskell.org/haddock/ticket/106 as a warm-up exercise for
your SoC project? It's a fairly high-priority fix for Haddock, and
shouldn't be too hard.
