Earth's Ecology & Ecological Internet Need You Now More Than Ever

May 11, 2010

Dear colleagues,

It is time for Ecological Internet’s (EI) mid-year fund-raiser in order to
allow us to continue campaigning together with you to stop ecosystem
destruction and for ecological sustainability. EI is entirely dependent upon
network members and web site users to fund our unique and highly effective
brand of online deep ecology activism. This gives us enormous freedom to
pursue, speak and implement ecological truth. Please support global grassroots
biocentric advocacy now with a tax-deductible donation of $100 or what you can
afford at:

http://www.climateark.org/shared/donate/

Ecological Internet believes humanity is liquidating the ecosystems needed for
our shared survival because of an economic and social system based too strongly
upon growth. We are at or near important tipping points. If major social and
personal changes are not made, ecosystems including forests, water, oceans and
the climate will collapse and large portions of, or even the entire, Earth will
become uninhabitable. NO ONE provides ecological science based policy analysis
and campaigns, and organizes protests and resistance, like EI and our network
of over 100,000 citizen activists and groups from virtually every country.

With major victories over the past year in Madagascar re: illegal logging and
the Amazon re: oil palm; and having substantially expanded our efforts on the
ground in Papua New Guinea, and through social networks with Facebook and
Twitter; EI’s financial needs are greater than ever. We simply must raise
$50,000 in the next six weeks (already 21% there!), or after all funds that are
raised are expended, we may need to cut back our efforts, or even close our
doors. During this time we will be pursuing a “public broadcasting” type
repetitive funding appeal, which has worked for a decade, but can be trying.
Please donate if you are able, but by all means stay part of the network!

Simply, Earth's ecology & Ecological Internet need you now more than ever! In
coming appeals I will be providing a budget for expenditures, highlighting the
depth and breadth of EI’s work, and argue persuasively that this network and
the movement of which we are part is Earth’s last best hope. As you may be
aware, EI is essentially a one person operation with just one full-time staff
member (me!) – built upon the fruits of my PhD research, 100 hour work weeks,
and your generous participation and support. Please, let’s get this
fund-raising done soon, so we can get back to the task of defending Earth.

Warm regards,
Dr. Glen Barry
President, Ecological Internet
