+

Dear Mr. McCreesh:

+
Please forward this note to appropriate person.

+
I would like to share with anyone who might be able to use the
information that after seven HOURS of attempting to follow Corel WordPerfect
directions for equal spacing lines in a bulleted list and ending with a mess, I
tried OO and finished a perfect document in a very short time. I had promised
to send a resume, it was expected within a time window, and formatting errors
weren’t really okay. Just as I was about to pay $19.99 to talk to
Corel support, I remembered OO. It quickly and correctly reproduced text and
formatting, and I was able to space the lists evenly with a few
clicks.

+
Even if one pays for support from Corel, there is no promise of a
solution.

+
WordPerfect’s frustrations are so awful that your product
is like a door into the sunshine.

+
Thank you.

+
If you haven’t tried OpenOffice.org yet,
download it

-
As many colleagues and friends already
know, I decided to leave Sun at the end of this months in order to pursue a new
opportunity at SAP. Actually, my very last day at Sun will be upcoming Monday
(June 23rd). It was a great time at Sun, and I learned a lot! I really like the
people, the culture, the attitude and the fact that Sun cares about more than
just revenue (e.g. eco responsibility, fun, accessibility, volunteer work,
etc.). I will definitely miss Sun and my colleagues! It was a great time!
-

-Since people asked what will happen to my blog, I thought I should post a
short statement before I leave, telling people where they can find a new blog
and how they can stay in touch with me. AFAIK, my old Sun blog posts will
continue to exist. At least that is what happened to other people's blogs after
they left Sun. Thus, I'm confident that the data will not get lost.
-

-In addition, in order to guarantee some level of continuity I just quickly
created a new blog called "Erwin's Open
Source Salsa". I don't know yet what I will do blogging wise in
the long term, but at least I will use that new blog as an interim solution.
-

-In case people wonder how to stay in touch with me going forward, you can find
me in various social networks including XING
(my favorite), LinkedIn and Facebook. Thus, just connect with me via one of
those platforms!
-

-Anyway, I'm sure our paths will cross again!
-

-
-Bye for now and all the best
-
-Erwin

-Leaving Sun and going to SAP
-

-

-As many colleagues and friends already know, I decided to leave Sun at the end
of this months in order to pursue a new opportunity at SAP. Actually, my very
last day at Sun will be upcoming Monday (June 23rd). It was a great time at
Sun, and I learned a lot! I really like the people, the culture, the attitude
and the fact that Sun cares about more than just revenue (e.g. eco
responsibility, fun, accessibility, volunteer work, etc.). I will definitely
miss Sun and my colleagues!

-

-In addition, in order to guarantee some level of continuity I just quickly
created a new blog called <a
href="http://opensourcesalsa.blogspot.com/";>"Erwin's Open Source Salsa". I
don't know yet what I will do blogging wise in the long term, but at least I
will use that new blog as an interim solution.
-

-In case people wonder how to stay in touch with me going forward, you can find
me in various social networks including <a
href="http://www.xing.com/profile/Erwin_Tenhumberg";>XING (my favorite),
LinkedIn and Facebook. Thus, just connect with me via one of those platforms!
-

-Anyway, I'm sure our paths will cross again!
-

-
-Bye for now and all the best
-
-Erwin

-

-
As many colleagues and friends already know, I decided
to leave Sun at the end of this months in order to pursue a new opportunity at
SAP. Actually, my very last day at Sun will be upcoming Monday (June 23rd). It
was a great time at Sun, and I learned a lot! I really like the people, the
culture, the attitude and the fact that Sun cares about more than just revenue
(e.g. eco responsibility, fun, accessibility, volunteer work, etc.). I will
definitely miss Sun and my colleagues!

-

-Bye for now and all the best

+

+

+

Reproduced without further comment:

+

Dear Mr. McCreesh:

+
Thank you.

+
If you haven’t tried OpenOffice.org yet,
download it
now. It’s great software, it’s easy to use, and
it’s free.

Thanks to Gianluca Diegoli (if you understand
Italian, his [mini]marketing blog
is a must read), I have discovered that the RSS feed of my blogs
wasn’t working. After a quick search on the WordPress site, I have
discovered that it’s a bug of the 2.5.1 release which will be solved
with the 2.5.2, and I have obviously found a solution to the problem. The feed
is working again, apologies for the flow of posts that you will find in your
reader.
