One of the strongest assets of the Free Software community is its worldwide group of contributors and users who believe in free software and who work hard to bring the software and solutions to the mainstream. We had a booth with three demo points and showed OpenOffice.org on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. As always, many people came to our booth, to ask questions, to file bugs and mostly to tell us to continue or great work!

In contrast to other trade shows, the LinuxTag is very informal, with very well informed visitors. This results in "better" questions at the booth, but also results in less donations as people don't buy an OpenOffice.org DVD. :-) We had various talks, and on Friday, we had an "OpenOffice.org Day" with people talking about the office suite. The colleagues from cities Freiburg and Munich, who currently migrate to OOo, told news on their projects, and project members of the Germanophone team talked about OOoPortable, about project Renaissance (which received lots of great feedback and Christoph's talk got immediate press coverage!), deployment in networks and many more.

For us, it was a large success, and we'll definitely be there in summer 2010!

-
-
-
-
-
- -
OpenOffice.org Marketing Blog
-
News and interesting stories about OpenOffice.org and other open source solutions.
-
-
-
- -
- -
-
New: OOo-DEV 3.x Developer Snapshot (build DEV300_m51) available
-
-
-
-

Developer Snapshot build OOo-Dev DEV300_m51 which installs as OOo-DEV 3.x has -been uploaded to the mirror network.

If -you find severe issues within this build please file them to -OpenOffice.org's bug tracking system IssueTracker.

-
Please use the following link
http://download.openoffice.org/next
-
Packages are also available from extended mirror sites ( listed with an [E] ) from the ".../extended/developer/DEV300_m51" One of the strongest assets of the Free Software community is its worldwide group of contributors and users who believe in free software and who work hard to bring the software and solutions to the mainstream. A core idea of the Social Desktop is connecting to your peers in the community, making the sharing and exchanging of knowledge (PDF) easier to integrate into applications and the desktop itself.

-
This ties in with the OpenOffice.org Dashboard Concept I’ve been working on as well. Integrating web with desktop applications is one important step, and then moving beyond that to integrate social software makes it yet more valuable to the community of users.

-
-
-
-
OOo Marketeers: LinuxTag 2009
-
-
-
Last week, the Germanophone team has been on LinuxTag in Berlin, one of the largest trade shows in Germany, specialized on open source software.
