<h3>What can I do when I start OpenOffice.org and see the error message,
GetStorage, name: No Content?</h3>
<hr />
<p><p><br />

You need to rename the text-based initialization script named
<code>Common.xcu</code> because this file has been damaged by the windows file
system.<br />

<ol>To do this under Windows:

<ul>

On the Explorer menu unselect "Tools->Folder Options-> View-> Hide Extensions
for known file types."

</ul>

<ul>

Windows Explorer's Find (or ">Start >Search >For Files and Folders"

</ul>

<ul>

Enter "common.xcu" and wait for the results

</ul>

</ol>

<br/>

<p>

Make sure that you have administrator rights</em> and have enabled viewing
system directories before using searching. If you installed OOo as multi-user
("everyone") in Windows NT/W2k/XP this file will probably be in a special user
directory (see below).

</br>

<em>

 Also, the first step above is because Windows default settings for seeing
files will only show "Common" not "Common.xcu" because windows wants to hide
the extension part. </em>

</p>

<br />

<ol>Installation specific instructions:

<ol>single-user:

<br />

<ul>

<install>

<code>C:\ProgramFiles\OpenOffice.org1.x.x\

user\registry\data\org\openoffice\Office\Common.xcu

</code>

</install>

</ul>

</ol>

<br />

<ol>

Network (Multi-user):

<br />

<ul>

<install>

<code>

C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\OpenOffice.org1.x.x\

"user"\registry\data\org\openoffice\Office\Common.xcu

</code>

</install>

</ul>

Where "user" is an actual user name. <br />

</ol>

<ol>Linux (case sensitive):

<br />

<ul>

<install>

<code>

$HOME/_user_name_/OpenOffice.org1.x.x/

user/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office/Common.xcu

</code>

</install>

</ul>

As above, note that also under Linux there may be multiple "Common.xcu" files.

</ol>

</ol><br />

<p>You can simply rename your current common.xcu to something like
Common-xcu.old). It is very important never to delete files which are located
in other directories!

</p><br />

Now open OpenOffice!

<br /><br />

<p>Technical note: common.xcu sometimes ends up being filled with zeros and the
problem seems to occur more often under Windows. The exact cause is under
investigation.</p>

<br />

Note: This FAQ answer has been <i>verified on versions</i> of OpenOffice.org to
1.1.3
