So here is what I figured out today.... I was getting much better performance than anyone else in our group. Upon some digging I found that the box was set to use domain passwords. This was a configuration error as the box sits in our dmz and should be using local accounts. We made the change and voila, what took 14 minutes took 90 seconds.
An interesting side note. My performance appears to be better because I used the same password on my domain account as I used on the local account. For those people who had seperate passwords, they were getting 1/2 the performance I was. Lesson for the day: check the config when you move the box from the LAN to the DMZ.
