Hi I don't know whether it's appropriate to ask generic CVS questions here, as opposed to specific CVSNT questions, so please do send me off in the direction of another list or other resource if more appropriate. I also have the manual but haven't been able to find the information there, however I am more than happy to go and look up page numbers. Currently when I add a significant piece of functionality to a piece of software I create a new directory for it, copy in the source and increment the version number in the directory name. I then work on the new directory. This means that if the next bit of functionality doesn't work I can revert to the old version and not loose the previous functionality which did work. In CVS I assume that committing a project is the equivalent to my creating a new directory??? If so, how do I revert to a previous version and how do I identify which version is which. Can I revert to a previous and keep the new version. For example: If I have a fully working version 1 of the software and I create version 2 and try to implement something new which doesn't work, can I keep version 2 for future reference, but create a version 3 based on version 1? One last question, is there a CVS FAQ page that will answer theses sorts of questions? I hope I've made his clear! Any help much appreciated.
